Kayla writes young adult and historical fiction, and has a frustrating fascination with fantasies that gets in the way a lot. She is the author of the young adult novelette, The Life and Death of Terry Dodd. A lover of books and prairies, she lives with her five siblings and inspiring parents in the wilds of the Great Plains. Besides reading books and writing stories, she loves watching old movies and drinking tea in her basement room dubbed “Mole End.”
But that's just my author bio. I'm really just a homespun, tea-loving, messy writer of a girl, who's love of yarn and knitting is second only to writing. And my pirate name is Mad Mary Flint.
This place? It's just really a little corner where you'll find some little bits of beauty, book love, writerly updates, and God's grace as I see it.
I also do a thing where I mentor writers and encourage quiet people. The Quiet Writers' Desk.
WHY I WRITE
“I WRITE ENTIRELY TO FIND OUT WHAT I’M THINKING, WHAT I’M LOOKING AT, WHAT I SEE AND WHAT IT MEANS. WHAT I WANT AND WHAT I FEAR.”—JOAN DIDION
“IF THERE’S A BOOK THAT YOU WANT TO READ, BUT IT HASN’T BEEN WRITTEN YET, THEN YOU MUST WRITE IT.”—TONI MORRISON
I WRITE BECAUSE OF GOD'S UNENDING GRACE.
