A Whole New Floor

A few weeks ago, one Saturday morning, we all woke up, had some breakfast and began ripping up the ugly, dirty grey carpet in our kitchen!

This is the only house we've ever lived in that we had to sweep the living and vacuum the kitchen!

Dad, Hannah, Joseph, Ethan and I all put a hand to it and ripped it within twenty minutes.

Ohhh, that was fun! Grab a hook-type-something, drive it into the carpet and PULL!

Underneath the lovely wood floor was covered in this sticky black glue!

It stuck to your clothes and your stocks, and dirt and debris stuck to it like crazy!
Deciding on a pattern.
Making sure everything is ship-shape and Bristol fashion!
Laying the first tile. Easy peel n' stick, but looks very lovely!

Whenever there is anything being fixed, hung up, put up, painted or moved, we always have to move heaven and earth to get it done!

Everyone gets into the mood! Once you get the first tiles down straight and aligned as perfectly as possible, the job is fairly easy . . . until you get down to the corners, the little places where a whole tile won't fit!

Joseph enjoying the puzzle piecing!

Hannah giving Ethan a crash course on laying tile! :)

Dad and I were trying to figure out how to lay a piece under the shelves.

As you can see, Hannah dropped by for a visit.
So some weekend, if you drop by, you might see our house in dire disarray!

And when our house is in dire disarray you might see sights something like this below . . .

Dawna whipping up her frosting for her Resurrection Day cake! The cake was a glorious sight!

Next time pictures of the evening our church spent at our house!

I don't have a picture of the finished project of the kitchen floor, I'm not sure how that happened, but be assured it's lovely and it's so much easier to clean! :)

"The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore."

Psalm 121:7-8

Haha you are the only one who could make something mundane like this look so exciting and artistic! love it ;)

replying to your comment although I know it was FOREVER ago: so glad the letter got there! and that the drunk girl in Venice amused someone lol. Let you in on a secret, the real reason I can't write everything on my blog is that it's too public and the wrong people might read it and get offended :P I shall put as much as I can into my next letter.

and James 1:5...love that verse, needed the reminder. thank you my dear :)
