Meadowlarks singing to each other across the glen, and their voices echo everywhere.
Red-breasted robins treading the ground, listening for food squirming beneath the earth.
And grass. Sweet. Green. Grass.
The crocuses bloomed today. The first time they have bloomed in forever. I stepped outside today, loving everything. Not knowing how much. Purple. The brightest color to bless the prairies.
From up amongst the leaves they spread their royal arms. Crowned with gold. Scepters of emerald. Lording over the flower bed, the regions beyond.
And their subjects came out to greet them in their glorious appearance. Leaves on bushes bare and brown before. Filling the empty branches.
The buds on the trees burst forth in glorious day! Children at play till summer sun draws them from their cradles. I love spring!
Daffodowndilly
by A.A. Milne
She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead."
Dickon and Mary and Colin loved spring, too.
Happy Spring, everyone.
